Originally from Gander, Newfoundland, Shakira learned at the young age of 2 years old, the difficulty of living with chronic pain when she observed her mom suffering to maintain a normal lifestyle after being involved in a workplace injury. It was there in which Shakira now realizes her passion for helping others had stemmed.
After graduating from high school, Shakira pursued a pharmacy degree but later realized something was missing, it was there in which she decided to give her career in pharmacy a break and wanted to help others in a more natural environment so she started working in a massage therapy clinic and soon realized the profound effects a massage can have on the body, mind and soul.
In 2007, Shakira moved to Fort McMurray where she continued with pharmacy while attending Alberta Massage Training, and later graduated from their 2200 hours program being certified in Deep Tissue, Swedish Relaxation and Working With Scar Tissue And Adhesions.
