The word hatha means willful or forceful. Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), and sequences of asanas, designed to align your skin, muscles, and bones. The postures are also designed to open the many channels of the body—especially the main channel, the spine—so that energy can flow freely.

Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. It asks us to bring our attention to our breath, which helps us to still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the unfolding of each moment.

Be prepared to sweat. The practice starts with quiet Sun Salutations A & B to set the pattern of your breath, calm your mind and connect with your body. Then, the dynamic sequence combines Ashtanga and non-Ashtanga poses integrating movement with breath. The closing meditation prepares you to enjoy a blissful relaxation in Savasana. All levels are welcome.

It is a combination of hatha and vinyasa where you are invited to flow with the breath in continuous movement in and out of your postures like the waves of the ocean in between static postures that linger to savor the moment, connecting to your breath, focusing on being present and exploring your true potential. This class moves in a smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance so we encourage everyone to move at their own pace and to modify the asana to meet their current physical needs/abilities. Each practice is unique, and yours alone!

Yin Yoga is the stretching of the connective tissues of the body mostly involving the hips, thighs, heart and lower spinal area and are held for 2 to 5 minutes. The postures tend to be physically easy (not requiring balance or strength) however the practice is mentally challenging. The goal is to find a place of inner stillness and meditation through breath and relaxation. The commitment to being in the moment – letting go of thinking, planning, and doing- allows the tissues to follow suit giving the body a great stretch and the mind a loving break from our over stimulated lives. We work very hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest.

Restorative yoga is the yoga of deep, aware relaxation. It is a Yoga of ‘being’, rather than a Yoga of ‘doing’. Its goal is achieving a deep, conscious physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. Restorative yoga uses props like blocks, straps, and bolsters to aid your muscles in relaxing without stretching and straining into position. The more fully your body is supported, the deeper your sense of relaxation and surrender will be.
As your body melts into the shape of the posture, your parasympathetic nervous system is activated, which engages a sense of calmness and a deep inner healing. Your class will conclude with a long savasana, or final relaxation, to stimulate the mind-body connection and perpetuate the feelings of restoration and wellness.

Vigorous, approach to vinyasa-style yoga. This style of practice was originally closely modeled on the Ashtanga method. Unlike Ashtanga, however, power yoga does not follow a set series of poses, so classes can vary widely. Its emphasis is on strength and flexibility.
